Week 3 into performing Arts course!

Monday:
At the beginning of the week we watched a DVD all about the style of dance 'DV8' which was created by a man named Lloyd Newson. I like this style of dance because it seems challenging but also very fun. it seems like i interesting project to learn about and i am going to research more about it.
Tuesday:
On the Tuesday we had a double lesson which i enjoyed until i sprained my thumb from doing a spin on the floor the wrong way and it went all swollen. Even though it hurt badly i still carried on and tried to enjoy the last hour of our practical lesson. We had to get into groups of Two or Three and i ended up going with Katie Burrows and Shannon Phillips. At the end of Miss Dolans dance we had to carry it on by making up two beats of eight to add to it, so we could finish it of in our different ways. My group chose to do it about our family being broken up so we had to show plenty of emotion during the dance. During this double lesson we had been videoed in our small groups and in our class group. I could of done much better from looking back at the video but it was hard for me whilst thinking about my thumb as well as the dance but that didn't stop me from trying.

^^^^
This is our group dance we all did on Tuesday. I messed up a bit at the end though and couldn't roll because of my thumb.

Wednesday:
On Wednesday we were in a computer room and miss Dolan spoke us through our first assignment which is due in October. We got the choice out of doing a written essay or a power point. I am not to sure which one i am going to choose yet because at the moment i am doing all my planning and getting the pictures and pieces of written work together. Once i have finished doing that, then i will decide which one i am going to do.
Thursday:
On Thursday we were on the costume construction part of the course. In this lesson Mrs Hearne wasn't in so we had a cover teacher. During this lesson we had to make a mood-board. We all had to pick magazines out of a box and cut different costumes and colours out of it. However the colours that we have chosen for our actual costume are the colours that we were looking to cut out. The colours that i chose are Pink, Cream and Gold.

I am looking forward to the whole of this project and learning everything about DV8, it interests me and i am very fond of it.

  1. Well done Ellie and also well done on including some video on your blog. Now start to think about the way the skills you learn help you become a performing arts student.
