Its our fourth week into Performing arts. It has gone so quickly! I am enjoying every bit of it and glad i chose it for one of my three options. In every lesson, whether its practical or not we always learn something new, for example in practical lessons we learn some new moves each time or if were in a computer room we will research new things, depending on what project were doing at the time. At the moment were doing DV8 so we have been researching about that for the past couple of weeks.
On our first lesson of the week which was monday, we were up in the drama room. It was quite small and there wasnt much room to move about in but we managed. We had to get in Twos, so i went with Chloe Stockman. The aim of the lesson was to begin to create a piece of DV8 physical theatre. It had to be very flowing and feel like it just comes natural to you. We made sure that it didnt feel forced or look stiff. So we all had to travel to the other side of the room whilst doing differnt types of flowing wierd movements. We were told to do this excersice because Miss Dolan wanted us to feel and get a idea of how DV8 is done. Whislt we were up in the drama room, we had to write down on a piece of paper of how DV8 dance should be i.e. flowing, movement ect... This was a good idea for me because now i can look back at it and it can help me with any coursework or projects that we get.
On Tuesday we were in the Hall. This was better becasue we had so much more space to do whatever the task was. At the beginging of the lesson we had about 5-10 minutes to recap on what we were doing the lesson before. Then we had to get in groups of six and try to get all the way down the hall. Neither of the groups managed to travel the full way down but wee did get about half way. To both groups this was a great achivment. It was quite hard to get down the hall because we had to make up some DV8 movements and only three people were aloud to move forward at the same time whislst the other three people could move on the spot but wernt aloud to step forward.
On wednesday we had a costume construction lesson with Mrs Hearne. During this lesson we had to work in the food technology room which wasnt ideal but we mandeged to get done what we were set. We had been given a strip of card each and on that piece of card we had to find shades of colours to stick on out of magazines. But the colour or two colours we chose to stcik on had to be out of our three colours we chose at the begining of the course. So i done Pinky shades.
On Thursday we had another Costume construction lesson. But in this lesson we done our mood boards. I was able to finish mine which was good. I got lots of patterns, fabrics and pictures of 18th and 19th century period drama costumes. Next lesson i am going to take a picture of my mood board to show you what it looks like.
This Friday we have our DV8 project due. I have decided to write a essay and hand it in as i think i am better at doing so. During the time we have had to do this project i have managed to learn alot about Dv8 physical theatre.
Well done Ellie, this is really detailed and starting to develop into a real diary entry format. Try and get some pics and/or video up on here to reinforce what you are doing in the lessons.
